Animal meats and many fish sources contain the Omega 6 derivative arachidonic acid (AA) which, while a little different, are just as important as the Omega 6's found in nuts and seeds. Sources of Omega 3's are found in flaxseeds and green leafy vegetables but that's not the same Omega 3 that comes from cold-water fish such as albacore tuna, Atlantic halibut, salmon and shellfish. The problem with fish sources though is that it is almost impossible to ingest enough to supply the fats sufficiently.
This is because of the abundance of essentials needed to meet the body's requirements daily. But we can't give up now! We really do need to get these fats from somewhere. Our brain alone is over 60% fat, and EFA's are vital components to not only the brain but the rest of the nervous system. In fact, if mothers become depleted of EFA's during pregnancy, their children's optimal spine development is limited.
As we already discussed, it is common for malnourished women, even those who think they are nourished, to lose their babies. It is well known that EFA's are necessary for every cell's growth from the moment of conception to the day we die. The common malnourishment we all share began with something that happened in 1900. This is when a different type of fat appeared in our diets. That fat has increased in availability by about 20 times since then. This fat is derived from a particular form of vegetable oil.
How can we avoid it? That's hard to say. We are unwittingly eating these bad fats even when we think we are eating ‘right.' So, it's no wonder your health has degenerated and you can't get into shape as easy as you would like. Couple getting bad fats in your health foods with the ‘low' fat, ‘no' fat, and ‘fake' fat diets that have been further depriving people of the good stuff and we've got a lot of work ahead of us if we want to get our health back. So, as of this moment, you need to make the conscious decision to cut out junk food if you want your cholesterol under control.
Even ‘partially' hydrogenated oils like margarine, although cholesterol free, are bad. Sure, butter (and egg yolks too) contain cholesterol, but they also contain natural fat mobilizing nutrients. When foods are eaten in their own whole food form, they are more than able to metabolize themselves. Margarines do not have this going for them. Margarines are fake fats made by taking an otherwise ‘good' cis-linoleic acid and adding a hydrogen to the double bonds which turns them into un-natural forms of saturated fats in a Frankenstein-ish ‘trans' formation.
This is done so they last longer on a store shelf and for no other reason. This is unfortunate because you try to eat fat free foods or health food bars and protein powders but only have your blood cholesterol escalate beyond your control. Drop these un-natural fats and foods containing them from your diet and you will have your ‘bad' LDL cholesterol levels return to normal quite rapidly (whether or not the genetic tendency runs high in your family).
It isn't genetics which raise your cholesterol. It's your everyday HABITS. The Harvard School of Public Health has warned us for years on the dangers of eating margarines, commercially baked snack goods, and deep fried foods as opposed to using good fats like real butter, extra virgin olive oil (means the olive hasn't fallen from the tree before processing) and Omega 3 fats because it's the processed oils that are making us die slow, painful deaths. Not the type of fat found in our Glandular Therapy Complex.
