A gland is defined as a secretory organ (i.e., an organ that secretes substances into the bloodstream or elsewhere in the body). The internal secretory organs of the body are called endocrine glands. These ductless glands secrete hormones directly into the blood stream. When certain types of glands or other organs of a safe and healthy animal's body are taken orally to increase the wellness of the human system, these supplements are known as "glandulars." For example, tissue extracts of the heart, spleen, prostate, uterus, brain, and other tissues are often used in "glandular therapy" along with extracts from pineal, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, thymus, adrenal, pancreas, and gonads. This is believed to enhance the function of, or mimic the effect of, the corresponding human tissue. The theory is, feeding prostate tissue might help the body's prostate gland heal or function better. The ingestion of certain glandular tissues is also thought to provide the body with hormones or other biologically active substances that enhance your body. For almost as long as historic records have been kept, glandular therapy has been an important form of medicine. While ancient glandular therapy usually involved the use of fresh, whole glands, modern glandular therapy primarily involves the use of concentrated glandular extracts. While it is well established that good glandular preparations are effective because of active hormone or enzyme content, and there is much evidence that, under normal conditions, some proteins, enzymes, and other large molecules can and do pass intact from the human gut into the bloodstream to benefit you, there are detractors who like to say glandulars are ineffective. We argue to the contrary. Most glandular products are derived from beef (bovine) sources, with the exception of pancreatic extracts, which are most often derived from pork (porcine). We use freeze drying methods to prepare our glands. The reasoning is that some processes are better for certain glands and not so good for others, this one is best for all. We begin with predigestion which employs the aid of plant and animal enzymes to partially digest or hydrolyze the glandular material. The partially digested material is then passed through a series of filtrations thought to be ideal in preserving the polypeptide (small proteins) and other water-soluble fractions (desirable). The freeze-drying process involves quickly freezing the glandular material at temperatures 40 to 60 degrees below 0 degrees F and then placing the material into a vacuum chamber, which removes the water by direct vaporization from its frozen state. The benefits are that it preserves more of the unaltered protein and enzymes as well as all of the essential fatty acids. We also wash the material with a solvent to remove the "bad" fatty tissue. The solvent is then distilled off and the material is dried and ground into a powder so that it can be placed in capsules. This also aids in the removal of any fat-stored toxins and toxic heavy metals despite our animals not being raised in questionable environments. It is better to be safe than sorry... It is critical to note that the glands we use are from disease free livestock that have grazed on open ranges not sprayed with pesticides or herbicides nor injected with antibiotics and synthetic hormones. Along with the glandulars in this product, we have included an array of plant sterols (good fats) also known to heal, assist, benefit and enhance hormonal and organ function. When I decided to put together my own Glandular Therapy I took into consideration popular ingredients found in "Super Sterol Therapy" products, items used in glandular therapy and other botanical dietary supplements. The problem was, some things are all hype. While desiccated liver tablets are a staple for some, I couldn't find a company who produces them like the good old days. What's popular, what's working and what's scientifically sound go hand in hand, right? No. If you have used Don Lemmon's KNOW HOW products before then you already know the level of professionalism, the quality of ingredients and the beauty of the results you achieve while using them. However, while my Glandular Therapy is as affordable as any of my other items, it was also the most expensive to create. I charge no more than I do for our vitamins, despite the fact the "cost" is almost double. I wouldn't make this available if the Glandular Therapy if I were forced to charge the markup I should here.
